Use of 0.2mm platinum needle is convenient for picking bacterial colonies from agar plates. It does not require autoclave/desiccation like toothpicks. It is easily sterilized burning a few seconds, rapidly cooled down again in a couple of seconds.
Above all it is cheaper than 0.4mm platinum needle. Making a loop at the tip is unnecessary. A tiny amount of bacteria taken with the sharp tip of needle is enough for either inoculation or insert check by PCR.

A short needle put on a long handle makes it easier to use.

Without waiting time, burn-pick-dip cycle action repeated simply. Quick and easy.
